Roy Brash

Roy Brash is a figurative and contemporary acrylic painter who drew and painted all his life. A native of Pembroke, Ontario, he also resides in Ottawa. His sense of design and color has grown from his deep interest in viewing art exhibits in Canada and abroad.
His artistic work also includes terracota sculptures. He further extended his knowledge of this medium by taking classes with Richard Gill.
He believes that a painting should tell a story and provide interest to the viewer. Vivid colors and design are important to him and he tries to use them to express mood and motion. Many of the paintings are illustrations of the artist's own experiences. Artistic influences include Lawren Harris, Eric Fischl, Edward Hopper and many pop artists such as Lichtenstein and sculptor, Duane Hanson.
