Lou was born in Deva, Transylvania, Romania, where she spent the first 3 years of her life learning the local dialect and learning to draw. The family moved to Bucharest in her first year of school and she later continued her education by studying Architecture at the University of Bucharest. She also continued experimenting with different art forms, drawing, painting, watercolor, sculpture, photography, etc, while taking art lessons as part of the university courses. With a degree in Architecture, and a life changing relocation to Canada, she worked hard at developing a small home design business and raising a son. There was little or no time for art. However, art did not wish to be forgotten and began to reclaim little by little its rightful place in Lou’s life. Colour and shape, light and shade, texture and materials are now well at home on canvass, recreating strong emotions, peaceful places, people and landscapes, and above all light that made a strong impression on a mind forever young and a heart full of passion! Soon Lou began selling privately some of her work, as well as planning how to make more time for art. Paul Filiberto, artist and owner of Cortile Gallery at Cape Cod made her an irresistible proposal: “Come to my studio tomorrow and make a painting!” She completed two canvases and Paul like them well enough to keep them in his gallery along with other visiting artists’ work. It was a turning point! Art is no longer “only a hobby” but a full time passion, to be nourished and revered. She displayed her work for 17 days at The Tulip Festival with 3 other Romanian artists. The event was an eye opener for Lou, who realized that a big percentage of the hundreds of visitors looking at her art are charmed by it. And this is how destiny works: Francoise and Detlef from “Gallery for her” saw the paintings and proposed a cooperation made in heavens, display some canvasses in their gallery! Parkdale Gallery also extended an invitation for a spring show of a group of artists! And so on... Luminita lives by the words of Anthony Robbins: LIVE WITH PASSION!
