Jinny's first love is painting portraits in oil, but she has followed several flights of imagination, producing bridges on platters and zebras wearing overcoats. She is a recent convert to landscape, inspired by travel, Emily Carr and the Group of Seven. She has developed a love affair with acrylics and watercolour, while retaining her passion for oils, and prisma pencils. Ever an explorer, Jinny is immersed in a new theme, centred around spaces and cloisters of cathedrals and carryatids
Jinny's second love is teaching art. She has been doing this for 18 years, for the Ottawa Board, Continuing Ed; Nepean Visual Arts Centre, Loblaws, VACO, and privately in her studio and in Switzerland.
Jinny worked as Art Director for Ambience Communications and CCL Advertising, where she won several design awards. Clients included DFAIT, Fisheries, Dante
Jinny was trained at le centre communitaire de la Celle St. Cloud, France, the Ottawa School of Art, Algonquin College, and the High School of Commerce, in the galleries and spaces of Europe and the landscapes of Canada.
Solo Shows
Jinny's solo shows in Ottawa include Capital Bridges, Zebras in Technicolour, Go Figure, at Gallery St. Francois. She showcased her Pyramids of Glass series at a retrospective at the World Exchange Plaza, and showed at the Green Door Restaurant, Second Thoughts Bookstore, and twice at the China Connection.
