About her
A resident of the Glebe since 1981, Celine was born in Saint-Hyacinthe,
Artistic Development
Celine returned to fine arts while learning about stained glass at the
Celine then pursued a self-directed education in visual arts. With the help of local artists Crystal Beshara (pastel portrait, drawing, watercolour), Gerald Smith (painting), Bhat Boy (acrylic), Nina Birdi (drawing and painting), Kevin Dodds (painting),and recently John Alexander Day (plein-air painting), she continued her quest to develop her abilities and knowledge. Her interest in art also grew by learning from many books and magazines and by visiting exhibitions both locally and abroad, discovering various Canadian, American and European artists.
About her art
Attracted by the presence of light in a painting, by the power of composition and the beauty that results from technique mastery, Celine continues to be fascinated by the creative process. She now works mainly with watercolour and acrylic.
Celine is inspired and challenged by what is at hand around her. Her watercolours are figurative and mostly derived from the art of portraiture while her acrylic paintings depict urban scenes where nature is omnipresent. Cityscapes and landscapes are of contemporary inspiration. Celine aims to capture the essence of her subjects and trigger an emotional response in the viewer by simplifying and emphasizing certain forms or colours.
