Beth Shepherd

Beth with her work hanging at CUAG

Artist’s Statement: Beth paints acrylic naturescapes. She uses her art to intimately connect with the natural environment and to share her love of nature with others. She experiments with a range of styles—from realism to abstract expressionism—in order to capture the rhythms and patterns of nature on her canvas. As wilderness is under threat through the effects of human encroachment and climate change, Beth captures the images of natural spaces to remind us of the importance of these places in the Canadian psyche. Her current focus is capturing forest and water images in all seasons, often revealing the effects of human encroachment and climate change. As well, the continues to work on a series of landscapes reflecting her experience in the High Arctic in 2008.
