2018-2019 Monthly Presentation

Monthly presentations take place at 7:00 p.m. on the evening of the third Tuesday of the following months. Members may attend the presentations at no additional cost. Please bring your membership card when attending. Non-members are invited to attend and a small fee of $5 will be charged at the door.

These presentations include a short update on current events and a guest speaker. Sometimes the presentation is a critique of members' art work. However, the June presentation begins with the Annual General meeting.

All presentations and meetings take place in the Heron Road Community Center's, 2nd Floor Theatre, 1480 Heron Road, Ottawa Ontario

2018-2019 Art Submissions

  • July 28, 2018 Pick up artwork at OLT (10:00 to 10:30 am)
  • OLT is closed in August, no submissions
  • New venue for art submissions are now being considered

New Standards for 2018/19 OLT Submissions

  • Our display space at the OLT has been reduced due to the restructuring of our contract.
  • Maximum size, including frame, 36 x 36 inches
  • One submission per member

Information for members: Art Submissions are on Saturdays and the time frame is 10:00 to 10:30 am to drop off and pick your artwork up at the Ottawa Little Theatre (OLT). Enter the OLT by the side door on Besserer Street.

Please make sure to fill out and bring the OLT Submission Form with you when you drop off your artwork. The form can be found in the Forms section.

If your painting isn't picked up and you want to get it, contact the OLT to make arrangements 613-233-8948.

Non-Award Shows - Regulations for Art Submissions (sometimes called regular shows)

  • Maximum size INCLUDING FRAME: 36 inches on the smallest side by 36 inches on the largest side. (Please note: the canvas of a framed picture must be smaller than 36"x36")
  • It must be properly framed: *(see EXCEPTION below)
    • secure frame in good condition;
    • wire attached firmly one quarter to one third of the way down from the top of the frame;
    • all sharp edges of wire covered with tape

    EXCEPTION: an unframed extra deep 1½ inch gallery canvas with the outside edges painted
    (Decision of the Art Submission Chair is final).

  • All sources must be acknowledged on the back of the work.
  • The artist's name, phone number, price, title, and medium must be printed on the back.
  • A submission form must be completed and handed in at the time of dropping off your painting. These forms are available for completion at the time of the drop off or may be filled out prior by printing it from the Forms page. Please print on 11"x8" paper.

Awards Shows

Twice a year we have Awards Shows. The dates for 2018-2019 will be confirmed later. The awards show will no longer be at the OLT.

Award Shows (Fall/Spring) - Regulations for Art Submissions

Juried in 4 categories (Oil, Acrylic, Watercolours and Others), members may choose one category/enter one painting.

  • Art work must be original (NOT a copy of anyone else’s work)
  • Works done from photo-reference must be from photos taken by your-self.
  • Works may not have been painted in a class, nor have appeared in any juried shows nor been critiqued. You may not have received help from any other person.
  • Maximum size INCLUDING FRAME: 40 inches on the smallest side by 40 inches on the largest side. (Please note: the canvas of a framed picture must be smaller than 40"x40")
  • It must be properly framed: *(see EXCEPTION below)
    • secure frame in good condition;
    • wire attached firmly one quarter to one third of the way down from the top of the frame;
    • all sharp edges of wire covered with tape

    EXCEPTION: an unframed extra deep 1½ inch gallery canvas with the outside edges painted
    (Decision of the hanging Chair is final).

  • The artist's name, phone number, price, title, and medium must be printed on the back.
  • A submission form must be completed and handed in at the time of dropping off your painting. These forms are available for completion at the time of the drop off or may be filled out prior by printing it from the Forms page. Please print on 11"x8" paper. Please note that this form is of a different format from that used for regular Non Award shows.

Painting Outings

We invite members to host painting get-togethers. This involves only a location and a cup of tea or coffee for participants. This is a great way to meet other artists, have fun painting together (or nearby), exploring new locations and supporting each other in our artistic pursuits.
